How can 2-1-1 be dialed from my office phone?
In order for 2-1-1 to work from your office, your office phone system (PBX) must be able to recognize the digits as a complete dialing code.
Most office phone systems are initially set up to recognize 7 or 11 digit phone numbers. However, 3 digit numbers like 911 or 411 have to be programmed by the phone system administrator at your office.
Similar to programming a speed dial on your own phone, your telephone administrator can program your office phone system to recognize the digits 211 as a complete dialing code on the system routing tables.
In some systems, it may still be necessary to dial a single digit network access code before dialing 211, (i.e. dial “9” to make a call outside of your office). Ask your telephone network administrator for details. For further information call us toll free: 1-866-652-4636.
